For almost 4 years of working in a corporate world, I learned a lot of things. I figured out that to be able to deliver a quality output, focus is not the only recipe, you have to improve your communication skill as well. Since I prefer to work alone, it was really hard for me to share my ideas, providing a constructive criticism about one's work and even give my opinion on a particular topic. I had to break this attitude of mine, I had to be more vocal, I had to be more opinionated about tons of things. Thanks to my previous employers who gave me the chance to hone my communication skill. Now, why good communication skill is required in freelancing?

Only way to a great output Employers cannot expect someone who lacks this skill to meet their expectations. To be able to produce an output of quality, both parties should understand the do's and don't's. If one of them fails, the work is already compromised at the very first stage. Strengthen the Client Relationship If both client and freelancer understand each other, it gives the parties to pursue work plans and seal the future deals building and maintaining a strong client relationship.

Emphasize other skills To be able to offer your talents and faculties, you must present it clearly. Possible clients need a qualified freelancer. Sometimes, even if you are a good fit to the post if you cannot present yourself in a clear manner, it is still possible to be rejected. There are also times that even if you lack a particular skill as long as you have the capacity to discuss it clearly, you are likely to get the job.

Communication skill is just one of the many ingredients to boost your freelancing career. Surely, just like me you can also develop it, not just in a corporate world but also in other environment wherever applicable.
